NPI (New Product Introduction) Buyer

Position Summary

The NPI Buyer is responsible for quoting, negotiating pricing and purchasing inventory, prototype materials, tooling and services in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. This role requires assessment of vendor and prototype shop capacity and lead time to coordinate with project timelines and due dates. The NPI Buyer will work with 10+ Design Engineers on multiple programs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Liaison between NPI team and our suppliers during NPI process

Supports commodity cost reduction, lead time reduction and supplier consolidation projects.

Selects potential suppliers based on commodity / project scope / budget

Responsible for establishing new sources as approved suppliers

Creates and maintains purchase orders

Pulls all documentation and sends out quote requests to suppliers

Evaluates supplier quotes and awards accordingly

Reviews Engineering Change Requests. Identifies open PO liability, effectivity dates and item attributes prior to approving

Works with Planning to disposition Excess and Obsolete material

Reviews item attributes and submits required changes to the Master Data Management team to implement

Working with Production Buyers, facilitate the smooth transition of new items from development through First Article acceptance and release to production

A contributing member of the MRB team for dispositioning non-conforming material

Escalates supplier related issues in a prompt manner

Performs other tasks and duties as required

Job Requirement

Previous work experience within the Electronics industry is a plus

Proven track record working with international suppliers; Asian suppliers preferred

Experience in dealing with sheet metal supplier experience a plus.

Ability to read and understand Engineering Drawings.

Working experience with ERP systems, and Agile preferred.

Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred

Working knowledge of item attributes and their effects on MRP messages

Presents possible solutions when escalating an issue

Excellent written and verbal communication skills within all levels of the organization

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships

Experience :

10 Plus years in Electronic industry, Contract Manufacturer, product Design companies

Independently manged the project.
